I know Jersey cudweed and this is not it. This plant is much shorter and lacks the terminal clusters of flowers that the Jersey cudweed has. Michael Mulveney identified a single more mature plant I found recently at the Fair end of Majura as Gamochaeta and I thought these were the same ...

Barb, I think you are right;
I'm afraid my recording at Gamochaeta calviceps (Narrowleaf Purple Everlasting)
isn't a Jersey Cudweed either; the Jersey cudweed page shows the terminal clusters of flowers that you mentioned in your comment. I think it is one of the introduced Gamochaeta sp. (which I proposed as well). Perhaps best to collect a sample for id?
