The FloraVic and PlantNet descriptions of H. laxiflora don't describe the fruits,. A description of H. laxiflora for Tasmania (where it is a threatened species) does mention that laxiflora has "slightly flattened" fruits and has a photograph. This Tas info-sheet states that laxiflora can be distinguished from other Hydrocotyle in Tas by its unpleasant smell; by flowers being mostly unisexual; and by flowers being stalked (no mention of flowering time as a distinguishing feature)
I didn't notice any smell; and I was down at ground level with the plant. But does it smell at all phenological stages ?
Mike, I'm not sure whether the flowering time is a good indicator; i noticed various species flowered at ununusual time following drought and then rain starting in Feb.
