Nesting changeover at 7.33pm in the fading light. Male exiting and female entering. The female appears to be blind in the left eye. In spite of her disability she took her time and carefully climbed down to the nest and successfully entered. My heart went out to her, but it was incredibly inspiring at the same time, a real 'Aussie battler' thriving in the Aussie bush in spite of life's hardships!
Roy and Michael - Great photos, thanks! There are some photos on the Nature Map of a pair with the female blind in the left eye taken by BirdsinCanberra and me in 2018-19, eg sighting 4184440. They spent a lot of time in a hollow christened gully hollow near other confirmed hollows, but we never saw definite nesting changeovers. I gather it is common for Gang-gangs to lose one eye, but I thought I would mention this for interest. Please keep posting photos! Cheers, Jacky
