Yes, they were the prettiest acrobat ants I've seen, very shimmery. Could it be diet, or something seasonal perhaps? New hatchings?

Sorry for the slow response - I don't know what would cause this colour but it's certainly unusual. I might try to get out there at some time to collect some for the National Insect Collection. Were they on a tree? Do you think the GPS location of the sighting is pretty accurate or a more general position? Cheers, Jon

Yep, they were on a tree. The GPS location may not be on the exact tree, but they were on one of the trees in that vicinity.
