Looking quite beautiful next to a blooming Acacia cultriformis and Hibertia obtusifolia along the main path. Plants must be well known and fairly established.. many more on the other side of Mount Rogers (from memory).
If this plant is close to the north arm of Rechner Place, Flynn, it may be a very pink version of Indigofera adesmiifolia. It may be a plant given to us from Binalong before we adhered more closely to the logic of local provenance. There are about 8 original Indigofera adesmiifolia plants on Mt Rogers. (We are yet to find any Indigofera australis in the 65 hectare site. ) The Landcare group planted additional I. adesmiifolia 20? years ago and these have survived being placed where we put them. The species has increased its spread over the past 25 years and responded positively to Hazard Reduction Burns as the heat split residual seeds allowing germination.
Many of the reserves have Landcare or ParkCare groups whose members have considerable 'corporate knowledge' about the places they love. Places have Blogs, FaceBook pages, Websites and/or brochures. The three Catchment Groups are also good starting points for background information about the land and its volunteer and ranger-management over the last 2-30 years!
Yes so I've discovered! I'm in the process of joining Ginninderra Catchment Group. Would love to get involved at Mount Rogers or Umbagong Park if I can fit it around Uni! Thanks for the tips!
Good news for us if you can make time! Official working bees are 1st Monday and 4th Sunday for Mt Rogers and 1st Saturday for Umbagong. We're often there at other times too of course working individually as and when it suits. Most of us volunteer in several places and are members of other groups with interests in species, habitats and 'saving the planet'!!
