Indeed! The southern side of the Mountain appears to hold the moisture very well - P. nutans and C. hispida is all over the place rather than in drainage lines also.
Yeah. I have found that slope to be excellent for orchids, but I wasn't aware P. curta occurred there. Admittedly I haven't spent much time out there in spring. There are a few other interesting things to look out for now including Chiloglottis trapeziformis in some of the gullies.
Like Aaron said - it's a great season. I've not seen P. curta there before either. the C. trapz site that I checked wasn't out just yet. couple more weeks.
This season is a really good opportunity to find a few species for the first time that haven't been reported before. E.g. I'd be surprised if my B. umbrina at Piney Ridge flowers every year.
