The images are part of a sequence showing the wasp building its mud nest in a mortar joint behind a down-pipe. There was a very high pitched sound coming from the wasp. This appeared to be due to body vibration which was visibly liquefying the mud, making it easier to work into place. The nest was completed over several days before being stocked and sealed off.
