The historical sequence of images was taken over a period of several weeks and shows a female Common Paper Wasp as she built a nest, laid eggs, and tended to them and the growing grubs. The wasp built the nest in direct sunlight, which required her to regularly cool the nest with ventilation from her wings, as seen in the first image. The final image is a montage showing the nest, eggs, and grubs at various stages of growth.
