Good question, John. Most 'parasitic' wasps are actually parasitoids, and some are bordering on predators. The distinction rests on whether they cause their prey/host to die immediately (predator), later (parasitoid) or not at all (parasite). Since the life histories are mostly poorly known, it would be better to rejig the CNM categories along taxonomic (not ecological) lines. Mea culpa (I was the one who suggested the original categories)!
