Meat ants nesting in an old termite nest in which something had dug a large hole.

Hi Jacky, a big hole dug in a nest of meat ants is pretty likely to be an echidna. They very often dig up the nests during winter as the ants bring the eggs and young close to the surface to get some warmth from the sun. Cheers, Jon
