There is no other wattle in my key to plants of SE NSW with such furry pods.

I don't know what happened to my note but this is the same plant as https://canberra.naturemapr.org/Community/Sightings/Details/3868674.
I thought of Hairy Wattle A. lanigera but the pods are not flat.

You are right. I was too quick iff the mark. Your photos show the leaves with a distinct short, usually shart, point, which Acacia lanigera has. Acacia montana does not have this feature.

Mike this is a rare wattle in the ACT. Given that you have it both on Mugga and Mt Isaacs do you think it is natural or is it a successful translocation of a locally rare species?

There is a lot of planting around the dam in O'Malley (Mugga) but there is only one of this species and I don't think it could have been planted intentionally. I don't think the one on Isaacs Ridge was intentionally planted either.

I have collected 500 seeds from this plant and need some help to propagate them. One of the collection bags blew off and I found it later with plenty of open pods but no seeds - probably taken by ants.

Mike, Greening Australia would probably welcome some of the seed that is excess to your requirements
