Great photo. I think that that colour and pattern is more characteristic of some Proteuxoa species in Amphipyrinae, rather than Heliothinae.

It looks rather similar to RyuCallaway's sighting 3360900. I do wish you could pop them in a bottle and take them home and rear them to the adult moth. So few of caterpillars can be identified. We need more rearing.

Saved it from some meat ants - at least I hope I did. I'll endeavour to take more home to rear, though given the length of this walk it may have died before I got home.
