Hi Jon and Michael, this I believe was not the Coconut ant, but was on a small tree some metres from the Spitfires, and I tried to memorise its name, but failed. Suzy then said that this was an ant which attended a butterfly species as well, so Jon may recall that, though the photos are not as good for id as seeing the ants in real life.
Thanks Suzi Jon I was unsure re the ID of this but suggested a name to it so that it would trigger an email to you so happy for you to overrule any of my suggestions.
Hi, I have puzzled over the photo for some time now and think Christine is right that it is not Papyrius. It could be Notoncus, but can't work out enough detail to confirm it, so will have to just take it back to an identified ant at this stage.
