Hi Alison, sorry for taking so long to get back on this one. Can you please tell me the location of the nest. I have sent your image to the Australian National Wildlife Collection and they think it may be a Brown Thornbill nest. Certainly the eggs of a Weebill are darker than shown in the image. One difference is that Weebills nest in the leafy foliage of a tree or shrub whilst the Brown thornbill nests in low shrubbery usually less than 1 m above the ground. Chris
Hi Chris, this nest was just off the track in the Pinnacle Nature Reserve. There were quite a few Weebills around and John B, who leads regular bird walks through the Pinnacle, thought it was probably a Weebill nest. The nest was in a eucalypt at about eye level, so not in very high foliage.
