Rod, please confirm that bird is holding something ‘white’ (snail or?) in its bill, and that the white on right shoulder is an lighting artefact. Michael

Hi Michael,
the bird is holding something in it's beak looks like an insect. Have added a crop of the birds head.
The White on the shoulders is just lighting, it is also on the back of his leg.
The bird was all black.

Rod, it does, and seems to show hackles on throat consistent with your I’d. But any chance you’ve a side photo of throat as my screen resolution (or my eyes?) not up to being 100% certain about the hackles on throat. Michael

G’day Rod, Understand. I’ll leave it to Chris to make a call (pun intended as I assume with something in it’s beak it didn’t call) as to whether to accept as ‘coronoides’ (Australian) or decide not clear enough there isn’t a chance of ‘mellori’ (Little).
