This was probably planted, but you do occasionally see self seeded plants near a parent

I've just keyed out my herbarium specimen and checked it against the descriptions of H. glabra, H. arizonica, H. lusitanica and H. macrocarpa in the online Horticultural Flora of South-eastern Australia, as well as checked it against the few specimens of these species in the herbarium. The tree is H. arizonica (leaves have conspicuous glands and a strong ridge on the back; the glands do not exude conspicuous white resin dots;; mature fruit are not glaucous (although young fruit are); fruit has 6 scales; seeds don't have a waxy bloom and are not shiny.
