P. menephron is now thought to be a more northern species, P. casuarinae being the local one, so this would have to be a vagrant. The Sphingid experts say that menephron is more black/brown than the grey casuarinae, and this photo certainly has brown in it. But it has much more brown than any of the ANIC menephron specimens, so I'm wondering if that is an artifact of the photo. Can you remember how it looked to the naked eye? The absence of a white discal dot is an indicator of casuarinae.
