The male of Maratus calcitrans has spinnerets that can be extended during the display to the female, similar to Maratus digitalis. This species, found by Stuart Harris (flickr name beeater) at Black Mountain in Canberra, was named "calcitrans" for its rapid leg kicks during the display (calcitrare = kicking).
