Too hairy to be Apina callisto, I think.

The specimen does match the caterpillar images which are labelled Pterolocera on the page for the genus visible on the Atlas of Living Australia. In fact the specimen looks quite similar in markings to the catepillar identified as P. amplicornis at:that species' page at: http://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:biodiversity.org.au:afd.taxon:af5db9f6-b79b-4a2e-b8da-6974ced53a26#gallery./

Thanks for that research, Ian. There are plenty of locally collected adult Pterolocera in the ANIC, but it is not clear how many species are represented, or what name(s) might be applied to them. I'll just confirm it as 'Pterolocera sp.'.
