Mainly in shaded areas near Acacia, less common than Shouldered Browns and female Common Browns

Hello..I am only recently into Butterflies and observed this dude yesterday in Higgins. I too have planted Microleana and other natives.

Hi LuluBird. Did you manage to take a photo of your butterfly? Spotted Browns do not normally start flying until January. Perhaps you saw a male Common Brown butterfly? These can look quite similar to Spotted Browns, and have started to fly this season.

I did but not a good one (with phone) I had good at it before hand ..definitely had two distinct spots..Although top one less distinct

I have concluded I have a Common Brown using my garden. Planted Microleana stipoides a year ago and it seems to working!

Great! Yes, Microlaena stipoides is a fantastic plant for a quite a few species of butterfly.
