So sad. I presume it has been frozen. ;)

Yes, and I'll take it to the ANWC.

The distribution of sightings of this species on CNM is very revealing. Apart from being a regular at ANBG sightings in urban Canberra of live birds are rare. Other than the ANBG my only personal record in a lifetime in Canberra has been a similarly dead bird hitting a window at CSIRO Black Mountain in the 1970s or early 1980s. The ID then was confirmed by H. Nix, frozen and similarly sent to the ANWC.

I've recorded a few here in Cook over the years, usually at this time of year - perhaps dispersing young birds.

I have only recorded them at the ANBG in the ACT, however there are many records from the south of the ACT (Namadgi and Tidbinbilla) where they don't seem to be too uncommon.

Nicki., yes, I saw the records at Cook/Aranda. My comment was about urban Canberra in general. They stick closely to wet, enclosed habitats- although I did see one once at altitude at Mi Ginini perched on a exposed branch.above the canopy.
