When Don took the photo of this species in the botanic gardens in 2001, we believed it had come in with mulch. It looks as if it has survived and got away. Rosemary, do you know anything more?

I think I stumbled across this plant today 13 November,while surveying one of the orchid plots. I pulled it out by hand, it had many flowers but no fruit. I did not see any other plants in the vicinity

I presume this species is being regarded as an invasive weed in the ACT, because it s native to sub-tropical closed canopy forest, but its range in s-eastern Australia is spreading because it has become a favoured horticultural species and garden escapee. Is that the case?

Yes- but I must admit I had second thoughts when I got back and checked its distribution which is pretty close to being natural to our region. Rosemary Purdie do you have a view?

Yes, I also looked its distribution and wondered whether is could be seen as natural. I have seen it growing presumably naturally near the Deua Cave on a limestone outcrop within Deua National Park. I also know its seed can be purchased online from native plant suppliers.
