Size? Is it a macro-moth or a micro-moth?

Don it was about 3 cm long. I was removing some red scoria (corner of photo) from our garden and it emerged. My guess would be Agrotis porphyricollis

Good guess.
The pattern of dark markings corresponds well.
The males are paler, but I have not encountered one that pale before.
Was it really that pale, or is the paleness a trick of the light and the photo angle?

Don I have added another wider shot photo for colour context. It was late in the day so colours are a bit washed out bit it was mainly a creamy white colour.

There are quite a few examples of lighter coloured specimens like this amongst the many images of A. porphyricollis on the ALA.
