The Dragonfly appeared to have a puncture wound, which is visible in the side of the abdomen.

The powder- blue colours of this species is just that; a powdery surface coating called pruinescence that develops with age. I wouldn't be surprised if the dark patch is due to the scuffing off of the pruinescence rather than a puncture wound per se. Either way, it would have been a significant event to cause it.
