if you want the tree identified as well, please upload a second sighting of the host tree, if possible. This should include a closeup of the branchlets with a measurement of the distance between the teeth on the branchlets. I presume this is a male tree with no nuts.

It seemed as though the tree was flowering. Is that not the case?

No. The male casuarinas and allocasuarins have yellowish to brown catkins at the ends of the branchlets. The females have short clusters of tiny red flowers (appearing like a single flower) along the branchlets.

Ok thanks Betty. I did not get very good photos of the actual tree so will leave that out. Not the sort of thing I would usually photograph, but a Yellow-faced Honeyeater apparently feeding on 'casurina flowers' drew my interest

I was really disconcerted the first time I saw this mistletoe. The leaves matched the host so perfectly.

Hi Ryu and Betty - thought I'd add that A. cambagei is the food plant for the beautiful Satin Azure in the ACT (which are flying at the moment!).

Thanks Suzi. Will keep an eye out
