Is the little "grass" blade in the center of image 1 a stem for D. truncatum? I was on Mt Majura last week and found a very similar stem but was unsure if it belonged to the rosette due to the lack of visible buds.

I'm pretty sure the 'grass' blade with the purplish base and with a Diplodium rosette on either side is a Thelymitra leaf. There is another one towards the lower left of the picture. The cluster of smaller leaves just to the left of the centre leaf is the Diuris. The leaves of all three species have just appeared in the past week (same time as last year) despite the very dry conditions.

That's good to know. The proximity of the Thelymitra to the Diplodium might indicate they are sharing the same mycorrhizal fungi.
