A bryological friend suggests Polytrichum. There are numerous spore capsules, still with their coverings (or calyptrae). Here the calyptra looks to be wholly yellowish, a contrast to the reddish tinges in the calyptra of the likely Dawsonia at http://canberranaturemap.org/Community/Sightings/Details/1946317.
