This species is Peltoschema scaphula (Chapuis, 1877). It is clearly part of the 'orphana' species group and allied to P. suturalis, which along with this species is found on phylodinous Acacia. The dark mark along the suture extending through the pronotum is an entirely unique feature. I have seen a pinned specimen in SAM that was found in NSW which is an exact match. Other records occur around suburban Sydney.
I am interested in the host plant and if you saw it (them) actually feeding. I would expect them on broad 'leafed' Acacia only. This plant is certainly not Acacia. I believe the green specimen is fresh (young) and the brown one is older.
Hello Martini, Just to clear up a few observations. This Peltoschema was first seen on the Lasiopetalum growing beneath a large Acacia binervia. I later looked at the scalloping on the phyllodes of this Acacia and found more beetles but not larvae. Clearly the Acacia binervia is the primary host, not the Lasiopetalum.
