Not sure if this is C. inconspicua? Looking at Barker's book 'Castiarina' the elytral apices or ends of the wing covers seem to match C. australasiae. It is also noted that the size was 12-25mm which fits C. australasiae. C. inconspicua is often around 10mm maximum and much smaller by comparison. C. puerilis is also another candidate but its elytral apices do not match either. Unfortunately the pics do not shed much light on the pronotum which is distinctly different between C. australasiae and C. inconspicua. These yellow and black trifasciate jewel beetles can be a real tough one to ID; I would go with C. australasiae for my two bobs worth....
Hi Stuart, I looked at this sighting quickly yesterday while I was in the field and my thoughts were the same. Castiarina australasiae. After seeing your comment this morning I’ve looked again and confirm my initial thoughts that this isn’t inconspicua and is definitely australasiae Cheers
