The Hypobapta caterpillars that I have come across are green with pointed heads, see

I cannot see the proleg structure on these photos. Can you take a photo showing that,
assuming, of course, you have it in protective custody for rearing to the adult moth for identification.

@donhe thanks, unfortunately I wasn't able to bring this one home so it may remain a mystery. As far as ID goes, I rely very heavily on various AI, previous confirmed IDs, and luck to stumble upon an ID. A lot of the time it works well enough but sometimes it's wildly off!! This was a "lucky dip" guess so zero justification.

Given we cannot confirm this has the required no. of prolegs we cannot confirm its a Geometrid i presume. This is a very long elongate larva?. A quick look on LBH and I find no matching moth larvae. Can we be sure its even Lepidoptera?

@ibaird the original pics are higher res, if you message me with your email I can send them through. I think it has prolegs but I don't know beyond that.

@Hejor1 : post a cropped high res part of the photo which may show the legs, but don't expect too much. With larvae you really have to to take them into protective custody (wild survival rate <1%) and rear them to identify them. We only have photos of larvae of 7% moth species.
