Barea codrella can be quite variable varying from almost black to much lighter coloured specimen.s. Could also be easily confused with Ardozyga nyctias. Based on the pattern of dots I suggest B. codrella.

The three other issues are (1) I am only just learning to use flash at night and (2) some of the moths lose scales when they bang into the lights and (3) some of the scales absorb light but others reflect light.
