A hybrid A. dealbata x A. baileyana - more than 4 pairs of pinna as far as I can see on the 2nd photo. Sam or Barb do you know whether that was treated at the weed control session yesterday? it is not mapped on Field maps as Treated or Untreated Weeds. I'm not sure whether each weeding crew had its mapper as suggested.
right, thanks Ciaran; I counted 6 pairs of pinnae which Plantnet https://plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/NSWfl.pl?page=nswfl&lvl=sp&name=Acacia~baileyana gives as the highest number. I think I started to learn about trees and shrubs with an old version of the Field guide to the native trees of the ACT (1990), page 41 "Leaves: compound with 3-4 pairs of secondary stalks 2-3.5 cm long ,...." That 3-4 number stuck. Great to learn something new!
Wal I think all the mappers ended up together. I left that group and tried to find the others but did not succeed, until I saw them with you! And I think only Sam and his girls were up the Centenary track near this wattle. So there will be some follow up to do along the Centenary track and the patch of A. boormanii that I did map on Untreated Weeds. Sam may be able to confirm whether the others were there to frill the wattle.
