Are the apparent pink markings real?
The suggested S. polyxesta identification relies on assuming this individusl moth has been attacked by a predator and now lacks sections of its outer forewing.

Yes. There were two or three of this species out at about the same time. They all had those distinctive reddish-pink markings.
