You are possibly correct. Was it heathland nearby? I cannot find an underside image of this species to comp;are it with. donhe may be able to help. Although what I can see on Bold Systems suggests a plain underwing forewing for this species.

Yes it was beside heathy creek on upper Naas.

The underside is inconsistent with Dichromodes, which have triangular upperside patterns. The only local species that I know with black and white underside margins like this are Hypodoxa, which have no triangular upperside pattern.

I don't think this is Hypodoxa for mine. Wrong shape and anennae look inconsistent. Underside of Hypodoxa on LBH looks different.

Erebidae?

I only got a scant view of upper. Very windy conditions. Is it possibly Antasia flavicapitata. Seen here before. Much brighter and contrasted individual than I’ve seen before but note bright examples on cnmp.

Have a look at http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/chro/chro-under.html
And see if you can find a match.

I recently got an underwing shot of Dichromodes confluaria. See sighting 4718849 has upper and underside images. Confirms this as Dichromodes confluaria.
