Possibly eggs of a Mnesampela species

Why do you think a Lepidoptera laid these rather than an insect of some other order ?

Because they were relatively close to where I have my moth light at night and they are very similar in appearance to what I believe to be Mnesampela eggs. A Google seach for images of Mnesampela eggs finds several photos of very similar eggs. They were very high up on my wall, hence no close-up photo. I am not one for going up ladders.

OK. Insects of other orders that lay eggs are also attracted to lights, and many species of moth have eggs like that. There is some ambiguity. But we need not speculate if you can collect some hatchlings and rear them. If you have a ladder problem : then maybe tape an open specimen bottle to a pole and a small paintbrush to another pole to collect some?
