Dr Keith Bayless of CSIRO identified this as Pyrgotidae. He said "it looks a lot like Facilina tertia in terms of body shape, color, lack of ocelli, but I can’t see the wing venation clearly enough and a side view of the head would help a lot". He also said that if any more are seen, he would like to have "fresh material".
Thanks Kim. Unfortunately I have no other photos. I remeber that I was quite annoyed that this fly disappeared before I got a chance to take a side on photo. I will look out for it in the summer.
