Eastern Rosellas are only occasional visitors to my garden. This one appeared to be with a Crimson rosella. It used the water container usually preferred by the Bowerbirds, and not usually used by any of the parrot species.
The easement from the creekline towards and past Flynn Community Hub has long been a place where Eastern Rosellas can be sighted. It's great to seen them at ease in suburbia as they seem to be less 'bold' than Crimson Rosellas. At one stage and 2019 - 2020 there was sometimes a Crimson amongst the 'Easterns' that came to our mid-Flynn backyard. So it's interesting to learn that 'Easterns' are less common visitors to your garden.....perhaps they don't like being bossed around by S Bowerbirds. Thank you for the intriguing species list you're compiling for our suburb!!
Hi Rosie, it is quite amazing the variety of critters in one suburban garden when you actually stop and take note :) Some years back now I used to get a mixed pair (Crimson/Eastern) regularly visiting my garden, but now it is mostly Crimsons that I see. Rainbow Lorikeets were unheard of 10 years ago, but now are regular visitors.
