User's notes

The Stick insect was measured at 16cm and had suffered trauma to its front legs, with parts missing. It was hanging from a tree (not a Eucalypt) close to ground level so presumably had been attacked by something. Additional details are provided in subsequent sighting 4362398.

Hi Michael. Out of interest, the insect in sighting 3344631 (21 Dec 2015/7 Aug 2016) seems to have the same head features as the insect in this sighting 4362397. 3344631 is identified as Tropidoderus childrenii. Do you know is that correct or are they both Podacanthus typhon? Tim

Yes - I think 3344631 may be a mis-identification, I have asked Roger Farrow for his opinion.

I think your diagnosis is correct for both records, in which case, the picture in my book is also incorrectly identified and should be Podacanthus rather than Tropododerus, as it does not have the flattened femora.
