Hi Jubeyjubes & Michael, this one is not all that obvious even at the genus level - a lot of queens look a bit the same, so I don't think it can be confidently identified (by me at least!). Cheers, Jon

Thanks Jon! Should I even bother posting photos of the queens? I have another collected on the weekend that I have not uploaded yet...

Hi Jubeyjubes, it's a good question. Some queens are pretty common so we can identify to genus or even species fairly confidently, but others are harder due to being seen less often or just being smaller, making good images difficult. For all ants (and probably most insects) having a photo from the back, from the side and one of the front of the head is best - but this is not easy to do in the field, I know. So, always feel free to add a sighting, but the better the image (or images) the better chance of a good ID. Cheers, Jon
