None of the 21 specimens of Proteuxoa nycteris on BOLD have the double white 'Lc' shaped mark on the forewing shown by this specimen. BOLD illustrates 105 species of Proteuxoa. The best fit to that double mark that I can see in the 105 BOLD photos is P. confinis, which has been found in NSW.
I think this specimen fits quite well the description of the species complex which Moths of Victoria Part 9 identifies as the ' Proteuxoa sp.(5) group'. The moth called P. confinis on the ALA has a plain brown thorax,
