Hi Alison, these are probably also Iridomyrmex rufoniger, but the photos don't quite give enough info to be sure. The earlier sighting you put up today had excellent clear close ups on the ants, thank you, and you can see enough of the features to make the ID. Cheers, Jon

Thanks Jon. Often hard to capture the detail on a windy day. But they are just 'across the road' so will go back and try and get better photos.
