Looking at the subfamily species in Noctuinae on the ALA I am inclined to think this is Leucania uda rather than M. convectia. M. convecta is more elongate, usually has an orange flush alongside the black and white wing spot and most usually lacks striations on the thorax. There are suggestions of faint chevrons present which M. convecta lacks.
