Michael, the ACT plant census lists six species of Eleocharis in the ACT. The leaf sheath character given on the species page used to distinguish Eleocharis acuta is one of several that differs for the six ACT species. A combination of culm, glume and spikelet characters can also be used to distinguish between these six species in the absence of a nut and leaf-sheath in the images. Which of the six species are you having trouble distinguishing the suggested identification from?

Ken, I was merely suggesting that including a photo of the leaf sheath might help in the ID.
