I would prefer to restrict the common name of tortoise beetle to the sub-family Cassidinae and call the species of chrysomelinae as leaf beetles which can then be termed eucalypt leaf beetle or acacia leaf beetle depending on host plant.
Roger, Kim Pullen set up this species for CNM last night. I was just adding a sighting so we have a photo of the species. I don't understand fully what you say in the comment. You need to talk to him I think.
Common names can be a bit of a minefield especially where the same insect species is called by a different name depending on which state or region it is found. However we do have several common species belonging to the sub-family Cassidinae that are the real tortoise beetles, because of their shape, while many more species belong to the Chrysomelinae with a different, more domed shape that are the leaf beetles. NB there are several other sub-families of Chrysomelidae with no common name apart from the flea beetles (in the Galerucinae).
