This is the first record of this annual North American grass on Canberra Nature Map. It thrives in open dry sandy situations, such as along the Murrumbidgee. Not as big a weed risk as African Love Grass, but its spines are a pest and as it is now only rarely established in the ACT, it is one that we would like to control
