New Functionality: Verified and Unverified Surveys

Hi FW Users,

Some enhancements to survey functionality today that are important to tell you about.

Admins and Moderators can now "Verify" a Survey.

This basically means, marking it as being fully checked and that the moderator team are comfortable/final in their view of all the ID'd species within the survey.

Surveys that have not been "Verified" will automatically show up in the "Unverified Surveys" list.
This new page is accessible from under the Species dropdown menu in the site navigation, similar to how you get to the "Unidentified Sightings" page.

To mark a survey as VERIFIED, you simply click on the survey icon on the Survey's own page (as shown in screenshot).
The grey survey icon will then change into a green survey icon with a tick inside it.

This now marks the Survey as verified and means it will be removed from the Unverified Surveys list.

IMPORTANT NOTE
Whenever a user, moderator or ANYONE does any of the following operations on a Survey:
  • Edit the Survey
  • Suggest a species within the Survey
  • Confirm a species within the Survey
  • Undo anything related to the Survey (via little Undo buttons)
.. If the survey was verified, its Verified status will be stripped automatically (because a change has been made to it), basically invalidating the Verification status. It will then return back into the Unverified Surveys list and require Verification again by a moderator or administrator.

This is so that we don't lock out or prevent users from changing things, otherwise the platform will quickly turn into a bottleneck, but we carefully manage (and retract) the verification status if necessary.

This is basically to help Anke Maria manage and keep track of which surveys she has fully reviewed and OK'd as final, versus the ones that have come in but haven't been vetted.

As always, feedback would be great.

Thanks

Aaron.
