Several of these round woody objects joined together by a thin stem..... in Gigerline Nature Reserve, near Tharwa Sandwash.

That's what I thought at first too, and that may be right. But I've spotted them frequently along the Murrumbidgee River.

I put this in as an insect first, then I changed it to a plant, thinking maybe it was a rhizome or some kind of root.
