User's notes

The pond at the bottom of the hill at Mt Mugga Mugga Nature Reserve had a large number of Mountain Galaxias, generally schooling in the shallow water near the banks. When I crouched down and stayed still they would quickly return to the shallow water close to me. However, the moment I moved, they fled again, with some even skimming out of the water over the surface.

It is easier to tell with more of a side view but unfortunately these will be the invasive pest mosquito fish, Gambusia holbrooki.

Hi Mike, thanks for that information. I thought the tail was a bit off.
