Cicada came to light at back door at 15 Fairfax Street . O'Connor. Light coloured, suggesting recently emerged. There were empty cicada skins attached to grass stems and young tomato plants observed today and yesterday nearby in the garden

I have no extra justificatiion that this species may be Y. nigromontana other than where it was recorded. My hypothesis has been put forward to test whether a species level identification is possible. I note Y. nigromontana was described and holotype specimens were collected from Frith Road, Black Mountain and at Mt Majura only recently by Emery, Emery and Popple (2015). This observation was made probably less than a kilometere from Frith Road Black Mountain. However I note Popple on his website (dr-pop.net) describes Acton (ACT) as a place where several related cicida species co-exist, particularly Yoyetta spp.

Following subsequent advice from Lindsay Popple (pers. comm. 12/12/16) I have changed my suggested species name for this sighting to Yoyetta sp. given that, subject to confirmation, this sighting is unlikely to prove to be Y. nigromontana.
