This locality in La Perouse Park, Red Hill looks to be a new locality for the species.

That's great! Only saw the one today (first time). Do they travel far ie could it have come from somewhere nearby?

Yes there was a sighting nearby in Griffith (NE direction) - see distribution map of the species' sightings, but we have strong winds today. They can been blown about I expect.

Ian the nearest sighting is more than 500m away with a lot of houses and trees in the way. Well done Alex the first endangered speciesrecorded in Griffith Woodland.

I saw several flying in the central area between the north and south lanes of Canberra Avenue opposite Manuka Oval, and another on the footpath outside the entranceway to Manuka Pool, on 31 October.

Just seen another golden sun moth in a different area of the woodland, much less windy today, so can be more confident Griffith Woodland is a sun moth habitat :-)
